The explosion, which is thought to have been caused by a butane gas bottle, ripped through a third floor flat in the sleeper town of Alcorcon, on the outskirts of Madrid, killing the five-year-old brother of the baby. Both the mother and the baby were discovered without heartbeat, but emergency services were able to restart their hearts.
