Russians attack Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa

ODESA, UKRAINE - JULY 23, 2023 - A candlestand lies on the floor inside Transfiguration Cathedral, the largest church of Odesa, after a Russian missile hit the altar Sunday night, July 23, Odesa, southern Ukraine. During the large-scale overnight missile attack, Russian troops launched 19 missiles of various types at Odesa and the region. The strike killed one person and left 22 people injured, including four children. The historic centre of Odesa on the UNESCO World Heritage List came under fire. Twenty-five architectural monuments were damaged, including Transfiguration Cathedral.
