(220510) -- MOUNT QOMOLANGMA BASE CAMP, May 10, 2022 (Xinhua) -- Yellow-billed choughs are seen in the Mount Qomolangma Base Camp on May 9, 2022. The scientific expedition on Mount Qomolangma is underway in the area of the world's highest peak. Scientific researchers witnessed wild animals near the Mount Qomolangma base camp, including state-protected animals Tibetan snowcocks and blue sheep. The Mount Qomolangma base camp is located in the core area of the Qomolangma National Nature Reserve. Covering an area of around 33,800 square km including a 10,312-square km core zone, the reserve is home to one of the world's most vulnerable ecosystems. Tibet has made enormous progress in improving environment, investing a total of 81.4 billion yuan (about 12.11 billion U.S. dollars) in the area by the end of 2020. (Xinhua/Jiang Fan)
