American pilots in China

With their leave over, American pilots board a truck and leave Chongqing (Chungking) to return to the air field where they are serving with the 14th U.S. Army Air Force in China. Japanese attack Chungking

Japanese troops launch an attack on Chungking (Chongqing) during the Second Sino-Japanese War. From the end of 1938 Chungking became the base and provisional capital of Chiang Kai-Shek's KMT. Despite much aerial bombardment and attempts to take the city, it stood firm until the end of the war. Date: 1937-1945
