Honda to launch car-sharing service in Singapore March 1

SINGAPORE - Civic hybrid cars of Japan's Honda Motor Co., which the company use in its car-sharing service, are shown at a parking lot in Singapore on Feb. 28. Honda will launch the car-sharing service there on March 1 that will allow about 50 people to drive 15 Honda Civics from three lots by paying for the time the cars are used.

Empress Michiko's speech to appear in civics textbook

TOKYO, Japan - Empress Michiko reads a keynote speech on the joy of reading in a prerecorded video for a 1998 meeting of the International Board on Books for Young People. Gakken Co. said Aug. 10 it will include the speech in a civics textbooks for sixth graders next spring. (Kyodo)
