The Buso festivities at Mohacs are a six-day carnival in February to mark the end of winter. Programs included an anniversary gathering of bagpipers, a Buso wedding, a "folk singers" contest, folk dance shows, and a workshop on making Buso masks. According to legend, local people dressed up in big woolly cloaks and wooden masks in a bid to frighten off the Turkish invaders in the 16th century.
