They specially made them for U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, his wife Michelle and their two daughters to celebrate his upcoming inauguration. Kusano is secretary general of the group ''Change Obama no kai (Change Obama association)'' which consists of proprietresses and other local people. The group tailored the Japanese coats, with ''President Obama'' written on one of the collars and ''Nagasaki, Obama Hot Spring'' on the other in white for the couple, getting their measurements via the Internet.

It is the first generation of offspring born to the milu deer that were released into the wild in the region. In September 2021, to rebuild the wild population of the endangered animal, China released 27 milu deer into the reserve. The staff at the reserve put satellite tracking collars on the deer to monitor their activities in the wild, allowing researchers to receive timely information about their health conditions in order to ensure their safety. The latest monitoring results show that the deer population has initially adapted to the alpine climate and successfully reproduced, which indicate

Sharp to launch soap-saving washing machine

OSAKA, Japan - Photo shows the ES-U80C model of a washing machine Sharp Corp. will launch Nov. 1, which uses ''supersonic vacuum bubbles'' to remove tough stains without laundry detergent. Sharp said Sept. 17 the new product, claimed to be the world's first such washing machine, is equipped with a device in its lid that creates bubble jets powerful enough to remove difficult stains found on shirt collars and cuffs before normal washing. The suggested retail price is 135,000 yen.
