Philippines: Storm Surge Hits Coastal Area Ahead of Fung-wong Makes Landfall

This video shows storm surge hitting the coastal community of Purok Maya-Maya, Dingalan, Aurora Province on Sunday, November 9 as Super Typhoon Fung-wong approached the Philippines. Fung-wong, known locally as Uwan, made landfall around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday in Aurora Province, with winds of around 185 km/h. Over a million people had evacuated as heavy rains and strong winds cut power across Luzon. At least four people were killed, according to reports.

Portugal has also been severely affected by the fires, with northern and central regions hit the hardest. According to CAMS data, the country’s estimated emissions have nearly reached the highest annual totals of 2003 and 2005.
