Newly Found Organics in Enceladus’ Plumes

Handout photo to illustrate : Newly Found Organics in Enceladus’ Plumes. NASA's Cassini spacecraft captured dramatic plumes, both large and small, spray water ice out from many locations along the famed 'tiger stripes' near the south pole of Saturn's moon Enceladus. Dramatic plumes, both large and small, spray water ice out from many locations along the famed tiger stripes near the south pole of Saturn’s moon Enceladus in this image released on Feb. 23, 2010. A study published in October 2025 analyzed data from NASA’s Cassini mission and found evidence of previously undetected organic compounds in a plume of ice particles like the ones seen here. The ice particles were ejected from the ocean that lies under Enceladus’ frozen shell. Researchers spotted not only molecules they’ve found before but also new ones that lay a potential path to chemical or biochemical activity. Environmental Pollution In Bangladesh

Environmental Pollution In Bangladesh

October 02, 2025, Outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh: Birds swarm over a massive dumpyard on the outskirts of Dhaka, where mountains of waste and heavy machinery dominate the landscape. The landfill, a major source of environmental pollution, threatens nearby habitats and forces birds to forage dangerously close to toxic waste. To free up space, the city authorities often resort to burning solid waste, according to garbage collectors, releasing carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen compounds, ammonia, sulfides, and other hazardous gases into the air, not to mention the foul smell that envelops an area of at least three-square kilometres. Environmental experts warn that CH₄ emissions significantly contribute to global warming by trapping atmospheric heat. Furthermore, the black smoke produced from burning waste exacerbates air pollution, posing serious health risks to residents. Photo by Suvra Kanti Das/ABACAPRESS.COM

After graduation from college, Li chose to start up her own business in her hometown Tangshan and set up a batik studio, devoting herself into the inheritance and creation of batik making technique. As a municipal-level intangible cultural heritage experience base, her studio has attracted many young talents. In recent years, Li has offered a series of voluntary and experiential courses in residential compounds, schools and nursing homes, as a way to pass down the batik technique. Integrating the aesthetics of modern life with the batik technique, the cultural and creative products her team designed are appreciated by the market. (Xinhua/Mu Yu)
