A fast-moving grass fire fueled by strong winds and dry conditions broke out in Thornton, Colorado, Wednesday morning, February 25, injuring four firefighters and one civilian and prompting evacuations of nearby neighborhoods, businesses, and Pinnacle Charter School. Thick smoke forced a temporary closure of Interstate 25, while roughly 150 responders worked to contain the 10-acre blaze by mid-afternoon. No homes were destroyed, evacuations were later lifted, and the cause remains under investigation. This video shows smoke visible from the River North Art District (RiNo), north of downtown Denver.

Red Spider Nebula

Using its Near-InfraRed Camera (NIRCam), NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope captured never-before-seen details of the Red Spider Nebula, a planetary nebula, in this image released on Oct. 26, 2025. NIRCam is Webb’s primary near-infrared imager, providing high-resolution imaging and spectroscopy for a wide variety of investigations. Webb’s new view of the Red Spider Nebula reveals for the first time the full extent of the nebula’s outstretched lobes, which form the ‘legs’ of the spider. These lobes, shown in blue, are traced by light emitted from H2 molecules, which contain two hydrogen atoms bonded together. Stretching over the entirety of NIRCam’s field of view, these lobes are shown to be closed, bubble-like structures that each extend about 3 light-years. China: Excavator Scoops Water From Pond to Contain Loader Fire

On October 16, 2025, in Guangdong, located in southern China, a dramatic rescue unfolded near a construction site. An excavator scooped a full bucket of water from a pond and rushed toward a nearby loader that had caught fire. The operator skillfully poured the water over the burning vehicle, instantly covering the flames and sending up thick smoke. The quick action prevented further damage.
