US: Pack Fire Burns Nearly 2,000 Acres in Mono County, California

A wildfire in Mono County, California, destroyed more that two dozen structures and burned 1,974 acres near McGee Creek Road and Highway 395. The Pack Fire, which started on November 13, prompted mandatory evacuations in Long Valley and McGee Creek, affecting around 1,800 residents, while nearby communities remained under warnings. As of the evening of November 17, the fire was 83% contained, with 614 firefighters and multiple air tankers deployed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Canada: Mount Underwood Wildfire Rages, Evacuation Orders Remain

The Mount Underwood wildfire has remained out of control, measuring at 3,761 hectares as of Sunday, August 17. Evacuation orders and alerts were in place related to the fire, including the order for the China Creek campground and the alert for parts of the Cameron Heights neighbourhood on the southern edge of the City of Port Alberni.

Canada: Wildfire Near Port Alberni Burns Out of Control, Forces Evacuations

A wildfire known as the Mount Underwood Fire is burning out of control near China Creek Campground, south of Port Alberni, British Columbia. The blaze has grown to roughly 630 hectares and is being fought by ground crews, aircraft, and helicopters. China Creek Campground and Marina have been safely evacuated, and the main road between Port Alberni and Bamfield remains closed. Fire crews are working around the clock to contain the spread. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The Garden Creek Fire, which broke out on the Fort Hall Reservation in southeast Idaho on Tuesday, July 1, has burned over 1,000 acres. Strong winds of up to 60 mph have hampered firefighting efforts, and additional crews have been deployed. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area.
