China: Bystander Dives Into Lake to Save Toddler and Grandmother in Chongqing

A bystander rescued a two-year-old boy and his grandmother after both became stranded in a lake in Chongqing, China, on April 17. The child had fallen into the water at a tourist area, and his grandmother jumped in to save him despite being unable to swim. A man quickly dived in and kept the pair afloat while bystanders on shore extended poles to pull them to safety. Both were brought to shore without serious injuries.

China: Man Jumps Into River to Rescue Drowning Child in Leiyang, Hunan

On April 25, 2026, in Leiyang, located in central China’s Hunan province, a video recorded a rescue beside a small river. A child had accidentally fallen into the water, and a group of adults gathered along the riverbank to help. An elderly person held out a bamboo pole and told the child to keep holding on so the child would not sink. At the same time, another man jumped directly into the water. The man, wearing a white shirt and black pants, lifted the child upward and helped bring the child closer to safety. The rescue happened at around 4 p.m. and was recorded by people nearby. The rescuer later climbed back out safely. Chinese viewers identified him as a deputy director at a local hospital.

On April 19, 2026, in Ningbo, Zhejiang, a video captured a tense rescue after a child accidentally fell into a reservoir about two meters deep near a restaurant. This is the tense moment that a Chinese swimming coach reacted within seconds to rescue a drowning woman at a swimming pool in Beijing, preventing a potential tragedy. On March 21, 2026, in Beijing, China, the video captured a young woman was seen struggling in the water after accidentally getting into distress. As panic spread and calls for help echoed around the pool, swimming coach Mr. Song immediately noticed the situation. Without hesitation, he jumped into the pool and swam rapidly toward the victim. The footage showed him reaching the woman quickly, securing her, and guiding her safely back to the poolside while others watched anxiously. His swift judgment and decisive action were believed to have prevented the situation from escalating into a fatal incident. The video ended with the woman regaining her footing in the pool, standing steadily in the water and out of immediate danger.
