Fish-cake cooking oil converted to bio-diesel fuel in Miyagi

SENDAI, Japan - The city of Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan's largest fish-cake processing base, has been producing bio-diesel from cooking oil disposed by fish-cake makers in the city, selling the product at 105 yen per liter, substantially cheaper than ordinary diesel sold at gas filling stations. Each year, fish-cake makers in Shiogama dispose of more than 500,000 liters of used cooking oil, which had been sold to outside dealers for use as fat in pet food or as ink solvent. The city started converting used cooking oil to bio-diesel in November 2006 with subsidies from the Ministry of Environment. If a problem occurs in the production line and bath salts do not flow, the robots automatically determine the problem and accumulate the stored bath salts. Kaken Seiko's new transfer equipment

Kaken Seiko (Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) has developed a new type of compact, single-bar transfer device that can be retrofitted to press machines. The company will start offering the product at the end of July. The price will be determined in the future. The company aims to sell 1,060 units a year. Three types of KTES series single-bar transfer machines will be available. The KTES series already uses the same method, but this time it uses linear servo motors. Citizen to release interactive diver's watch

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows the Promaster Cyber Aqualand, an interactive underwater watch which Citizen Watch Co. will release on Sept. 20. Citizen said Sept. 17 the new product will enable divers to exchange data with computers as well as with each other.
