France: Woman Skis Through Paris Streets Following Heavy Snowstorm

The video shows a woman skiing through the streets of Paris on Wednesday, January 7. Paris was hit by a heavy snowstorm earlier this week, prompting French weather authorities to maintain an orange alert for snow and ice. Around 5 cm of snow fell across the capital, bringing some of the coldest temperatures in eight years and causing transport disruptions. The snowfall also drew residents and tourists into streets and parks, including the Montmartre area, where people were seen skiing and enjoying the rare winter scenes.

Hubble Seeks Clusters in Lost Galaxy

Handout Photo shows NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image features the spiral galaxy NGC 4535, which is situated about 50 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo (the Maiden). Through a small telescope, this galaxy appears extremely faint, giving it the nickname ‘Lost Galaxy’. With a mirror spanning nearly eight feet (2.4 meters) across and its location above Earth’s light-obscuring atmosphere, Hubble can easily observe dim galaxies like NGC 4535 and pick out features like its massive spiral arms and central bar of stars. This image features NGC 4535’s young star clusters, which dot the galaxy’s spiral arms. Glowing-pink clouds surround many of these bright-blue star groupings. These clouds, called H II (‘H-two’) regions, are a sign that the galaxy is home to especially young, hot, and massive stars that blaze with high-energy radiation. Such massive stars shake up their surroundings by heating their birth clouds with powerful stellar winds, eventually exploding as supernovae. The image incorporat

Robot Xiaolai performs an experiment at the state key laboratory of precision and intelligent chemistry of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province, November 24, 2025. Traditional chemical research has long relied on continuous trial and error by scientists. With the development of artificial intelligence and robotic automation technologies, it has become possible to design experiments and issue instructions through intelligent platforms, using robots to replace human labor in experiential operations, which enhances experimental efficiency and precision. In 2021, after eight years of dedicated effort by a research team from USTC, Xiaolai, the first-generation "robot chemist," was successfully developed. After several years of iterations, the second-generation dual-armed humanoid robot Xiaolin has been put into operation, capable of performing more complex tasks. It has evolved from a substitute of human labor to a "research partner." According to Zhu Zhuoy

Maintenance Workers Fix Locomotive Parts - Nairobi

Maintenance workers check a locomotive in the repair workshop of the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway in Nairobi, Kenya, Jan. 23, 2025. Launched in May 2017, the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, spanning approximately 480 km, connects the large Indian Ocean city of Mombasa with Nairobi, the country's capital and largest city. It is Kenya's first modern railway since independence and is hailed as a flagship project under the Belt and Road cooperation between China and Kenya. After eight years of operation, Africa Star Railway Operation Company (Afristar), the company operating the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, initiated a maintenance program for 41 passenger cars and 10 locomotives on Jan. 15. With plans to complete the maintenance by May 31, these tasks will decrease the failure rate of locomotives during operation and ensure continuous safe and smooth transportation for its clients.
