Japan Prize winners

The Japan Prize Foundation said that day the 2014 Japan Prize, recognizing scientific achievement with the betterment of society in mind, will be awarded to Suematsu and Allis. Suematsu won in the field of electronics, information and communication for his development of semiconductor lasers for telecommunications, and Allis won the prize for life sciences for his pioneering work in epigenetics, the study of the effect of structures other than DNA in the expression of genes.
