France: Fire Near Gare de Lyon in Paris Engulfs Building Under Construction

A fire broke out near Gare de Lyon in the 12th arrondissement of Paris on Tuesday, July 15, engulfing a construction site for the "Messager" building at 65 rue du Charolais. The under-construction eight-story low-carbon building, part of an urban real estate project by Espace Ferroviaires (SNCF), posed an explosion risk due to stored acetylene. Police set up an exclusion zone around the area, and about 180 firefighters with 10 trucks worked to contain the blaze into the evening. Nearby shops were evacuated, but no injuries were reported.
