RELAY Communications Satellite

The RELAY communications satellite shown in a December 11, 1962 photo released by NASA. The 172-pound spacecraft eight sided prism is 33 inches high and 29 inches in diameter at tis broad end. The exterior composed of eight honeycomb aluminum panels studded with 8,215 solar cells. The communications satellite prime function will be used for technical experiments although public demonstrations of television, telephone calls, teletype photo facsimile, and high speed data will be transmitted. The 18-inch long wideband communications antenna points toward the Earth while Relay travels through space. Three of the four telemetry antennas are shown extending from the broad end. Mounted on the center panel are special solar cells and diodes which will be tested for radiation damage. Apology letter from Samuragochi

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a handwritten apology from Mamoru Samuragochi, sent by his attorney via facsimile to Kyodo News on Feb. 12, 2014, for having long lied about pieces of classical music released under his name. A music lecturer said in early February that he has worked as a ghostwriter for Samuragochi for nearly 20 years.

The CNB Czech central bank has issued a golden coin worth 10,000 crowns on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia, the CNB has announced in a press release on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. The front of the coin depicts a hillock with a lime tree (a Czech symbol) the crown of which is covered by shields with heraldic animals from the great Czech state emblem, such as the Bohemian lion and the Moravian and Silesian eagles. It is accompanied by the coin's value of 10,000 crowns. The back side shows the great emblem of the Czechoslovak Republic with a facsimile of the signatures of the first and second Czechoslovak presidents, Tomas Garrigue Masaryk and Edvard Benes, and the first defence minister Milan Rastislav Stefanik, in the upper part. The lower part shows a hillock with a young linden tree and the dates 1918 and 2018. Sharp unveils fax equipped with digital camera

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a facsimile terminal equipped with a digital camera which Sharp Corp. unveiled July 8. The company said it will release the new product on Aug. 2 for the first time in the world. The ''fappy UX-W60CL'' has a detachable color liquid-crystal display which is equipped with a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera with 310,000 pixels, Sharp said. (Kyodo)
