RECAP: Tornadoes, Flooding, and Large Hail Batter Midwest in Multi-Day Outbreak

A powerful severe weather system swept through the U.S. Midwest and Great Lakes region on April 14–15, bringing tornadoes, giant hail, damaging winds, and widespread flooding to multiple states. Michigan was among the hardest hit, with the Ann Arbor area reporting building collapses, downed power lines, and thousands of customers without electricity. In Milwaukee, heavy rains on Wednesday evening prompted the closure of Interstate 43 and left streets impassable across the city. At American Family Field, rain leaked through the retractable roof during the Milwaukee Brewers game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Severe storms brought heavy flooding to Milwaukee on Wednesday night, April 15, forcing freeway closures and leaving vehicles stranded in rising water. Japan: Imperial Family Visits Fukushima on 15th Earthquake Anniversary

Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako and their daughter, Princess Aiko visited Fukushima Prefecture on April 6 and 7, marking the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake. It was Princess Aiko's first visit to the prefecture. As the motorcade made its way to Fukushima Station at the conclusion of the visit, the imperial family was seen waving to crowds gathered along the route.

China: Climbing Perch Fish Spotted Crawling Across Muddy Road in Guangdong

On December 27, 2025, in Guangdong Province, a video showed a line of shiny black fish moving across a muddy country road. The fish advanced slowly in an orderly row. Viewers identified the species as climbing perch, an amphibious freshwater fish in the family Anabantidae, known for crawling onto muddy ground after rain in search of water. Their tough bodies allow them to traverse rough surfaces with ease.
