High school fastballer Tanaka picked by Rakuten

TOMAKOMAI, Japan - Komadai Tomakomai right-hander Masahiro Tanaka gets congratulations from his former teammates after the Rakuten Eagles acquired the rights to negotiate a contract with him in the amateur high school baseball draft in Tokyo on Sept. 25. The Pacific League club won the four-party lottery for Tanaka, who helped Komadai Tomakomai finish runner-up at the national high school baseball championship in August.
