TOKYO, Japan - Japanese judoka Ayumi Tanimoto announces her retirement on Sept. 21, 2010, saying her Olympic feats in the women's 63-kilogram class at Athens and Beijing have allowed her to walk away from the sport filled with a deep sense of accomplishment.

After the drum beating and bell tolling, a eulogy was read during the ritual held at the Fuxi Temple. A dance was performed depicting Fuxi's feats at the end of the ceremony. Worshippers offered sacrifices to the statue of Fuxi and paid floral tributes. Worshipping Fuxi is a tradition in China. In 2006, the annual ceremony commemorating Fuxi in Tianshui was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage by the State Council. About 300 people participated in the commemoration ceremony.
