The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Assembly of Experts Ahmad Jannati as well as other members, including Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The 88-member body oversees the activities of Iran's supreme leader and is empowered to designate and dismiss the supreme leader. The holding of the meeting came as the sixth Assembly of Experts election was held concurrently with the 12th parliamentary election on Friday and the new members were elected, including Raisi who was elected to the body for the third consecutive term. The term of the sixth Assembly of Experts, to begin in the coming months, will continue until 2032. Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting
