TOKYO, Japan - Kinji Fukasaku (C), a 72-year-old Japanese filmmaker, is suffering from cancer, the filmmaker's son Kenta Fukasaku (L) said Sept. 25. Fukasaku's film ''Battle Royale'' about school kids who kill each other to survive on a deserted island sparked an outcry over its graphically violent scenes. Despite cancer, the filmmaker is determined to proceed with ''Battle Royale II.''
