RECAP: Buckley Draw Fire Rages Near Provo, Utah

The Buckley Draw Fire broke out on the mountainside south of Slate Canyon in Provo, Utah, around 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2025. The fire quickly grew, reaching an estimated 427 acres by Tuesday, August 20, mainly spreading along the east flank at the top of Buckley Mountain. Steep terrain and active flames have made containment difficult. Evacuation warnings remain for nearby residents, and trails in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest are closed. Fire crews are making progress, with aircraft supporting suppression efforts. No injuries have been reported.
