Statue of Oguri Cap unveiled in Hokkaido

SAPPORO, Japan - A life-size statue of Oguri Cap is unveiled in the town of Niikappu, Hokkaido, on July 3, 2011, the first anniversary of the death of the legendary race horse. Oguri Cap, which lived in the town after retiring from racing, won 12 graded races and helped boost the popularity of horse racing in Japan in the late 1980s.
