Toshiba to launch HD DVD-equipped laptop in mid-May

TOKYO, Japan - Toshiba Corp. said April 10 it will launch in Japan in mid-May the world's first notebook computer equipped with a next-generation DVD drive. The Qosmio G30/697HS, with an HD DVD drive and a 17-inch high-definition liquid crystal monitor, is expected to sell for about 400,000 yen, Toshiba officials said.

TOKYO, Japan - Hitachi Ltd. said July 17 it has begun marketing what it calls the world's first liquid-cooled notebook personal computer (in handout photo). The Flora 270W Silent Model circulates a liquid coolant through a series of tubes inside to dissipate heat from a high-speed microprocessor. The PC with reduced noise is quiet and good for use in libraries, hospitals and educational institutions, Hitachi said.
