OSAKA, Japan - Former Osaka Gov. Ryoichi Kuroda died of pneumonia at his home in Osaka on July 24, his family said July 28. He was 92. Kuroda in 1975 became the first prefectural chief reelected with backing only from the Japanese Communist Party (JCP). He was viewed as a reform-minded governor.
