Obuchi, Shevardnadze meet in Tokyo

Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi and Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze shake hands after signing a joint communique at the premier's official residence on the evening of March 4. Shevardnadze arrived in Tokyo earlier in the day on a five-day official visit. Japan offered a 670 million yen grant to Georgia to help it boost food production and proceed with economic reforms.
