The photo shows copies of the letters, translated into German, which were sent by Nosaka from New York to his Comintern handlers in Moscow in 1934 and now preserved at Russia's National Archives. The letters prove that Nosaka did more than produce antiwar propaganda during his four-year stay in the U.S., as generally believed by Japanese historians.

Detailed contents of Yukawa's six letters sent to poet Isamu Yoshii (1886-1960) between March 1945 and January 1947, before receiving the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1949, were disclosed by Mitsuhiro Hosokawa, a professor at the University of Shizuoka, in an academic journal published in September 2015.
