MIYAKEJIMA ISLAND, Japan - Sixty-eight former Miyakejima Island residents arrive on the island April 19 for a four-day visit, their first overnight stay since the entire population of some 3,800 residents was forced to evacuate due to volcanic activities in September 2000. Residents have made one-day visits to the island in the Pacific some 180 kilometers south of Tokyo but it became possible for them to stay as a shelter-accommodation facility was completed there recently.
