The Buso festivities at Mohacs are a six-day carnival in February to mark the end of winter. Programs included an anniversary gathering of bagpipers, a Buso wedding, a "folk singers" contest, folk dance shows, and a workshop on making Buso masks. According to legend, local people dressed up in big woolly cloaks and wooden masks in a bid to frighten off the Turkish invaders in the 16th century. The folk tradition was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009. Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Mohacs, Hungary. (XHTV)
