More than 10 Mongolian wild asses were spotted by Xinhua journalists on their way to cover a story about the construction of a China-Mongolia economic cooperation zone located near Zamiin-Uud and Erenhot port, the largest land port between the two countries. The Mongolian wild ass was listed as an endangered animal by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in 2015. It is estimated that there are now more than 62,000 wild asses in Mongolia. The wild ass is said to be one of the six great animals in the Mongolian Gobi Desert.
