Satellite View of Graham Land - Antarctica

Handout Satellite views dated on November 21, 2025, shows Graham Land. Graham Land, the northernmost stretch of the Antarctic Peninsula, is one of the most rapidly warming regions on Earth. Its mountainous spine and outlet glaciers drain into the Weddell Sea, forming an important transition zone between grounded ice, floating shelves, and open water. This dynamic landscape supports rich marine ecosystems, including krill-dependent species such as seals, penguins, and seabirds, and plays an important role in global ocean circulation and climate regulation. This Copernicus Sentinel-1 image, acquired on 21 November 2025, shows the contrasting textures of grounded ice, fragmented sea ice, and dark, open ocean, revealing key glaciological features in radar backscatter. Copernicus data is essential to climate science. A recent study published in Nature used Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data to analyse glacier dynamics in Graham Land, Antarctica. Environmental Pollution In Bangladesh

Environmental Pollution In Bangladesh

October 02, 2025, Outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh: Birds swarm over a massive dumpyard on the outskirts of Dhaka, where mountains of waste and heavy machinery dominate the landscape. The landfill, a major source of environmental pollution, threatens nearby habitats and forces birds to forage dangerously close to toxic waste. To free up space, the city authorities often resort to burning solid waste, according to garbage collectors, releasing carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen compounds, ammonia, sulfides, and other hazardous gases into the air, not to mention the foul smell that envelops an area of at least three-square kilometres. Environmental experts warn that CH₄ emissions significantly contribute to global warming by trapping atmospheric heat. Furthermore, the black smoke produced from burning waste exacerbates air pollution, posing serious health risks to residents. Photo by Suvra Kanti Das/ABACAPRESS.COM

An understatement: in the midst of the wine crisis, winegrowers saw their hopes of an exemption from customs duties to the United States dashed this Thursday, August 21.
