The annual festival, also known as the "festival of colors," is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in India, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The festivities began early in the morning, as people gathered in parks, streets, and open spaces, armed with colored powders and water guns, ready to paint the town in various colors. They danced to the beat of drums, sang traditional songs, and smeared each other with gulal (colored powder).
