Three people were killed in a potash mine accident close to Barcelona, northeast Spain, on Thursday morning.
Confirming the deaths, the Catalan fire brigade informed that they received the report of the accident at 08:53 local time (0753 GMT) and arrived at the mine with nine rescue vehicles and a medical helicopter.
The accident happened around 900 meters underground at the Suria potash mine. The causes are so far unknown.
The three victims working for the company ICL Iberia were apparently in a gallery when the roof fell and buried them. Work is underway to recover the bodies, according to the authori

At least 30 migrants died early Sunday when their boat ripped apart off the coast of Italy, Italian media reports said.
Italian state radio reports said the exact death count was still uncertain as of mid-morning local time Sunday as most of the dead bodies washed up on or near the shores of Steccato di Cutro, a seaside resort town in the southern Italian region of Calabria. At least three dead bodies were recovered at sea, authorities said.
Italian news agency ANSA said 33 people have died in this accident, including many children and women.

A military helicopter has sighted the wreckage of a small plane that went missing on Saturday morning in Albay province, southeast of Manila, a government spokesperson said Sunday.
Tim Florece, the information officer of Camalig town, told a local radio interview that the military chopper saw the tail of the aircraft less than 2 km from the crater of Mt. Mayon, a 2,460-meter cone-shaped volcano located in Albay province approximately 300 km southeast of Manila on the island of Luzon.
The Cessna 340A aircraft went down three minutes after take-off for Manila from the Bicol International Airport in Daraga town on Saturday. Four people were on board, including the pilot, a crew and two Australian passengers.

A UH-60 Black Hawk belonging to the Tennessee National Guard crashed on a highway in Harvest, Alabama on Wednesday afternoon, February 15, killing the 2 people onboard.
The helicopter went down just after 3 p.m. in an area near Highway 53 and Burwell Rd. in Harvest. According to the National Guard Bureau, the helicopter belonged to the Tennessee National Guard and was on a routine training mission.

An Israeli tank on Tuesday crossed the "technical fence" along the border with Lebanon, prompting high alertness from the Lebanese army, the National News Agency reported.
This is the fourth similar incident on the Lebanon-Israel border within a week, the report said, adding that the Israeli tank did not violate the Blue Line, which is a demarcation line between Lebanon and Israel as well as Lebanon and the Golan Heights published by the United Nations in 2000.
