Canada: Massive Winter Storm Buries Elliot Lake, Closing Highways and Suspending Services

A massive winter storm buried Elliot Lake and surrounding areas in northeastern Ontario on Monday, March 16, bringing heavy snowfall and powerful winds that created street-obliterating drifts. The city and Ontario Provincial Police suspended services and closed highways, urging residents to stay home unless absolutely necessary.
