The Sandy Fire broke out Monday, May 18, in Simi Valley, roughly 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles, burning over 1,600 acres, destroying at least one home, and putting more than 28,000 people under mandatory evacuation orders.

US: Two Brush Fires Break Out in Naples, Florida

Two wildfires broke out in Naples, Florida, on Monday, May 18. The fires spread rapidly, producing large plumes of smoke. One fire in the Picayune Strand State Forest, fanned by stormy gusts, burned 650 acres, but was 85% extinguished as of Tuesday. Another fire in Golden Gate Estates burned 135 acres but is now completely out. THis video was captured in South Naples on the way home from Marco Island Monday afternoon.
