Over 100 injured after ferry apparently collides with whale

KAGOSHIMA, Japan - More than 100 people were injured when the hydrofoil Toppy-4 ferry, now moored at port in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture, collided with a submerged object, possibly a whale, in the East China Sea off the prefecture on April 9, the ferry's operator said April 10.

JR Kyushu launches 4th hydrofoil for Fukuoka-Pusan route

FUKUOKA, Japan - Kyushu Railway Co. (JR Kyushu) on July 1 launched its fourth hydrofoil (shown in photo) for the Fukuoka-Pusan route in the hope of boosting the number of passengers using the sea lane between Japan and South Korea. The JB2, nicknamed Beatle, can carry up to 215 passengers and travel the route in 2 hours and 55 minutes.
