Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner became the center of a global doping debate after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced a three-month ban on February 15. Sinner had tested positive twice in March 2024 for prohibited substance clostebol. Although the International Tennis Integrity Agency initially ruled that he bore "no fault or negligence," WADA appealed before ultimately reaching a settlement with the player. The sanction drew criticism from several fellow players, who argued it was too lenient, while WADA emphasized transparency and pointed to a rise in contamination-related cases across sports. This file photo taken on May 10, 2025 shows Jannik Sinner reacting before the men's singles round of 64 match between Jannik Sinner of Italy and Mariano Navone of Argentina at the ATP Italian Open in Rome, Italy. China: Man Climbs 30-Meter Tree to Rescue Stranded Cat

This video shows the heartwarming moment a Chinese man risked his own safety to rescue a helpless cat stranded high above the ground for more than a week. Filmed on December 11, 2025, in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, the footage captures retired veteran Zhang Yuhua climbing a nearly 30-meter-tall metasequoia tree to save a small cat trapped at the top. Using only his bare hands and no professional climbing equipment, Zhang carefully made his way up the towering tree. According to the video, the cat had been stuck there for nine days and was growing visibly weaker. After several tense moments, he reached the cat, secured it, and slowly descended, prompting applause from onlookers. Zhang later said the cat was taken to a temporary foster shelter for care and observation.

This photo taken on December 23, 2025 shows the exit of Tianshan Shengli Tunnel on Urumqi-Yuli Expressway in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, the world's longest expressway tunnel, and the Urumqi-Yuli Expressway that traverses the Tianshan Mountains via the tunnel, will be open to traffic by the end of this year, enabling a new shortcut linking southern and northern parts of Xinjiang. The 22.13-kilometer tunnel will reduce the time it takes to drive across the middle section of the Tianshan Mountains from several hours to about 20 minutes. Once operational, the travel time from the regional capital of Urumqi, north of the Tianshan Mountains, to Korla, south of the Tianshan Mountains, will be shortened from seven hours to about three hours. On December 14, 2025, in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, Indonesia, the phrase "The Heart of the World is Bleeding" aptly encapsulates the aftermath of the flash floods that occurred during this period. In the wake of the devastation, residents gathered tree trunks that had been uprooted and displaced from the Leuser Ecosystem, a consequence of Tropical Cyclone Senyar that may be characterised as a "dark harvest." Rudi Putra, the founder of the Leuser Conservation Forum, articulated that the magnitude of this devastation transcends a typical natural disaster; it serves as a poignant indicator of the deterioration of our natural defences against the global climate crisis.
