Kiyomizudera Temple

The West Gate and Sanjuno-to (three-story pagoda) of Kiyomizu Temple looking from the east side of Nio Gate. The stairs on the right lead to the West Gate and those on the left directly to the pagoda. The western slope of the gate has kishigoma lanterns. The West Gate, built in 1631, is a kirizuma structure with hiwada roof. The Sanmon Gate of Yasaka Shrine,Gion,Kyoto

View of the western romon gate of Yasaka Shinto Shrine. Statues of komainu (guardian dogs) stand on both sides of the gate. Rickshaw drivers are relaxing while women and children stand in front of the stone walls and gate. A gaslight and electric pole are visible near the stone walls. The gate roof was covered with hinoki tree bark in 1497 and re-covered with roof tiles during the Eiroku Period (1558-1570). The gate in the picture is painted red, with a kirizuma style roof and roof tiles. The Chokugaku-mon Gate of Yusho-in Reibyo, Zojoji Temple, Shiba

Chokugakumon is a four-legged gate built in the kirizuma (gabled roof) style with karahafu (undulating bargeboard) in front and back, and a copper roof. The roof visible in the back is that of the bell tower. A see-through fence is built on both sides of the gate. The fence surrounds the front precinct of the Hall of Worship and connects to the right and left corridors of Karamon Gate.
