Typhoon Shanshan – Flock Of Seabirds Take Shelter On Ground Amid Strong Winds

Typhoon Shanshan brought heavy rains and strong winds to southwestern Japan as it made landfall near Sendai, Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Kyushu Thursday morning, August 29. This video shows a flock of seabirds staying on the ground facing the same direction amid heavy winds and rain of Shanshan on the seaside of Nobeoka, Miyazaki Prefecture.

The photograph was taken from near the beach close to Tateiwa and captures the area of present day Mogi-chuo and Kata-machi. The mountain in the background is Mogi and Mt. Tohakkei is behind it. Wakana Bridge spanned Wakana River (Okawajiri), which flows into the bay at Mogi Village, and conveyed pedestrians toward the cape at Kitaura. About 75 metres in length, Wakana Bridge spans the mouth of Wakana River. It was built with clay and soil but later rebuilt with wood. The Nagasaki Mogi Hotel was situated on the right.
