Anne Hidalgo bestows honorary citizenship on Paul Watson - Paris

Arrêté le 21 juillet 2024 par les autorités danoises à la suite d’un mandat d’arrêt international émis par le Japon l’accusant d’avoir blessé un marin japonais lors d’une de ses missions, Paul Watson fondateur de l’ONG Sea Sheperd a pu compter sur le soutien de l’opinion publique internationale, de nombreux activistes écologiques et de la Maire de Paris. Après des semaines de détention dans la prison de Nuuk, le Danemark a finalement rejeté la demande d’extradition et Paul Watson a retrouvé sa liberté le 17 décembre 2024. Enfin libre et de retour à Paris, Anne Hidalgo lui a remiofficie llement la citoyenneté d’honneur, réaffirmant ainsi l’attachement de la Ville de Paris à la préservation de la biodiversité et à la protection des défenseurs de l’environnement.
