Together, they express their opposition to the growing collaboration of the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) with the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, in the run-up to the February 23 federal elections. Since late January 2025, demonstrations have taken place across Germany after CDU leader Friedrich Merz sought parliamentary support from the AfD for a bill targeting undocumented foreigners, including asylum seekers.
