Nijo Castle at Horikawa and Nijo Dori in the Chukyo district of Kyoto. The east gate is seen from the south east corner turret. The construction of Nijo Castle, which was used by the Shogun during his stay in Kyoto, was started in 1602 and was completed four years later. Kiyomizudera Temple,Kyoto

The Nio Gate of Kiyomizu Temple. There are stone lanterns on both the north and the south sides of the stone stairway in front of the gate. The west gate and the three-story pagoda are visible on the far right. Built during the Muromachi Era (1392-1573), the Nio Gate had three rooms and one door with a hiwadabuki (bark-covered) roof. The statue of Kongo Rikishi is situated in the area surrounded by a kongo fence (a fence made of vertical stakes with decoratively shaped finials resembling the ritual object called kongosho used in esoteric Buddhist rites) with lattice work above it. Decorative object with lattice-like patterns found in Honduras

MEXICO CITY, Mexico - Photo shows one of two decorative objects made of pale green jade found by a Japanese researcher and other archaeologists in Honduras. The cigar-shaped objects were discovered in a tomb believed to be that of a king who ruled sometime from the fifth to ninth centuries in Copan at the Copan Ruins in western Honduras in mid-September. One of the objects, measuring 20 centimeters in length, has lattice-like patterns engraved on its surface -- a symbol of a man of political power.
