China: Lighter Bursts Into Flames During Birthday Candle Lighting

A mother in Xi'an, Shaanxi, was lighting candles on her son's birthday cake on June 12, 2023, when her lighter suddenly burst into a large fireball in front of her face. She pulled back in shock as the flames briefly flared before dying out. The mother said the fire singed her eyebrows and hair but caused no serious injury.
