She is an Israeli citizen of Jewish origin born and raised in Kibbutz Kfar Hahoresh near Nazareth who now lives in Germany. She’s a member of the Stirring committee of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. ‘We are embarking on this mission because we believe that a civil society has to act against this genocide. We’ve been sailing doing direct no violent action to challenge the Israeli blockade on Gaza since 2008, so we’ve been doing this for a long time. We do not believe that History started on the 7th of October, and it’s actually very necessary and lawful , a mission that should have been taken by a lot of governments. We are civil society, with our limited possibilities we will bring aid and solidarity to the people in Gaza and InshAllah we will help to make Palestine free.' Deadly Riots Sweep New Caledonia Capital - Noumea

Saturday, May 18, 2024 - Noumea - Long queue in front of the Korail store in Normandy. One more person was killed Saturday and two injured in France's Pacific territory of New Caledonia as security personnel tried to restore order after a fifth night of riots and looting that has now claimed six lives. For almost a week, the usually unhurried oceanside city has been convulsed. Two gendarmes have been killed: one shot in the head and a second shot in friendly fire, officials said. Three other people, all Indigenous Kanaks, have also been killed: a 17-year-old and two men aged 20 and 36. The unrest has been blamed on economic malaise, social tensions and, above all, a political fight between mostly Indigenous pro-independence activists and Paris authorities. A Brighter Summer Day

A Brighter Summer Day

Shih Han on the roof top of the building where his family lives, New Taipei City, Taiwan, 2019 ‘I feel very proud that Taiwan just became the first Asian country to legalize same sex marriage, and I really believe it’s just the first step. Now we have to let more and more people know that we have the same rights as heterosexual people. Education is the priority.  I get discriminated by gay men because of this expectation that we should be muscular with short hair, as to compensate for something. I’m sick of this. Some patriarcal gay men asked me why I had long hair, thinking I was giving gay men a bad name by looking different. They think it’s adding an extra layer of misunderstanding for the society. They believe I’m not a good gay man. But why should I follow the rules? I just want to be myself.’ Shih Han Shih Han is a performing artist. He lives with his family in New Taipei City.
