Commercial Space Tianlong 3 Test Run - Yantai

This aerial drone photo taken on Sept. 15, 2025, shows a first-stage propulsion system test for the Tianlong-3 liquid carrier rocket conducted on an offshore launch pad at the Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port in east China's Shandong Province. A first-stage propulsion system test for the Tianlong-3 large liquid-propellant carrier rocket was successfully held here on Monday. Independent development of the Tianlong-3 rocket began in March 2022 by Chinese commercial aerospace company Space Pioneer. The rocket is 72 meters in length with a takeoff mass of 600 tonnes. Its first stage is equipped with nine "Tianhuo-12" engines operating in parallel. The rocket has a low-Earth orbit carrying capacity of 17-22 tonnes, and a sun-synchronous orbit capacity of 10-17 tonnes. It is able to launch 36 satellites in a single mission and supports large-scale cargo transport for China's space station, as well as medium- and high-orbit satellite launches. China: Satellite Launch Illuminates Xi’an Sky

This is the breathtaking moment that a mysterious streak lit up the night sky, leaving a bright, long-tailed trail visible to local residents. On June 6, 2025, in Xi’an, Shaanxi, local residents captured video footage of an unidentified flying object slanting upward from the left horizon, trailing a luminous plume across the night sky. The streak appeared almost ethereal, expanded briefly, and then faded, captivating onlookers below. According to a report by People’s Daily, the remarkable light display had been caused by China’s successful launch of the Low-Earth Orbit Satellite Internet “04 group” from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The video ended with the glowing tail dissipating into the dark sky, leaving only faint wisps as the rocket continued its journey into orbit.

Radian Aerospace Wants To Reinvent The Space Rocket

Handout Artist’s renditon of Radian One, a "space plane" capable of reaching orbit in a single stage. A Seattle-area startup called Radian Aerospace is fine-tuning the design of its orbital space plane, with an eye toward building a subscale prototype as early as this year. The company is also in the midst of a fresh round of fundraising, following up on $ 27.5 million in investment that was announced in 2022, according to Livingston Holder, Radian’s co-founder and chief technology officer. “That round will be larger,” Holder said. Over the past two years, Radian has made progress on an ambitious plan to create a reusable winged space plane that would be launched toward low Earth orbit by a rocket-propelled sled and its own rocket engines.
