Kyushu-Shinwa asks Fukuoka Financial Group to integrate manageme

FUKUOKA, Japan - President Takashige Araki of Kyushu-Shinwa Holdings Inc., a local lender in Kyushu, speaks at a news conference in Fukuoka on May 2 where he announced the bank has given up on its own efforts to turn around its business and asked Fukuoka Financial Group Inc. for a merger. Fukuoka Financial, the top lender in Kyushu and the nation's No. 4 regional bank, has replied positively and agreed to begin merger talks as soon as possible, Kyushu-Shinwa said. (Kyodo)
