A massive boulder tumbled down a mountainside at a scenic area in Yutian County, Tangshan, Hebei, on May 27, 2026, smashing into a pavilion and destroying it in a cloud of dust. Nearby tourists quickly fled and narrowly avoided being hit. A witness estimated the boulder measured two to three meters in diameter. Authorities barred access to the affected area while handling the aftermath.

Japan: Dust Clouds Rise From Mount Mayuyama After Earthquake

On August 12, 2026, in Shimabara, Nagasaki Prefecture, a video captured clouds of dust rising from the slope of Mount Mayuyama shortly after a magnitude-4.9 earthquake struck the area. An earthquake of 5.0 magnitude struck Muli County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan province at 11:07 a.m. on May 27, 2024. The tremors were also felt in neighboring regions including Daocheng County under Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan. This video captured by a local shows billowing clouds of dust along the slope of a mountain as the earthquake struck. Alarm sirens can be heard. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage released by the local government.
