Fuji Xerox is expanding its maintenance and inspection operations for multifunction devices using smart glasses to wide format multifunction devices that print drawings and other documents. In April, Fuji Xerox started using smartglasses for commercial printing machines, with customer engineers (CEs) engaged in maintenance and inspection operations wearing the glasses. In the maintenance and inspection work that began in April in Japan, the company has been using the "Infomesh Visual Navigator," a remote work support solution using smart glasses from NTT Data Newson (Minato-ku, Tokyo). Mimatsu's Collaborative Robot for Punch Laser Multifunction Machines

Mimatsu (Chikushino City, Fukuoka Prefecture) will start full-scale introduction of collaborative robots attached to machine tools. There is no need to use a camera for identification. It can handle workpieces ranging in size from 30 mm to 120 mm square and weighing up to 2 kg. In the punch laser combined machine, a camera identifies the shape of the object transported on the conveyor after processing. The company will sell the system outside the company in cooperation with machine tool manufacturers. Mimatsu is a metal processing company that also assembles equipment. The company has been working to shorten the time between processes by developing a system that uses beacons (small transmitters) to grasp the location of semi-finished products. Hamabe Seisakusho has installed a punch/fiber laser multifunction machine at its main factory, which will be operational within the month. The investment will amount to 200 million yen. The combined punch and fiber laser machine will be operated unmanned 24 hours a day, including die changes, to improve processing efficiency and save manpower. The machine is also equipped with a material feeder and product accumulator, which automatically feeds six types of materials at the right time to handle small-lot, high-mix sheet metal processing. With the introduction of a punch/fiber laser multifunction machine, the company aims to increase productivity in sheet metal processing, improve its ability to respond to single-part orders and short delivery times, and also acquire new orders.
