Storm Kristin has left at least five dead and caused widespread devastation across central and northern Portugal. Labeled an 'extreme climatic event' by the government, the storm brought hurricane-force winds that triggered over 3,300 emergency incidents and knocked out power to 855,000 residents on Wednesday, January 28. Taiwan: Power Outage Hits Songshan Airport and Zhongshan District

On Monday, December 1, sudden power outages struck Songshan Airport and parts of Zhongshan District in Taipei. At the airport, the international terminal lost power at 1:36 PM, but backup generators kept check-in and customs operations running. Some escalators and VIP lounge lighting were briefly affected. Taipower confirmed a disconnected feeder line caused the outage, which was fully restored by 2:48 PM. No flights were disrupted. Niigata gov. OKs TEPCO's 1st nuclear reactor restart since Fukushima

Philippines: Typhoon Kalmaegi (PH Tino) Threatens Central Islands

On Monday morning, November 3, Typhoon Kalmaegi (locally named Tino) intensified, prompting the state weather bureau (Pagasa) to place several areas in Visayas and Mindanao under Signal No. 3. The typhoon is moving west-southwestward at 25 kph, carrying maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gusts up to 150 kph. Its initial landfall is potentially forecast for Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, or Dinagat Islands. A part of the video is dark as the power went off in the area.
